News: New ICANN transfer policy

The GDPR deadline has necessitated changes in the way Registrars manage the inter-Registrar transfer process. In accordance with ICANN’s Temporary Specification for gTLD Registration Data, the following changes are made in order to ensure seamless progression of domain name transfers:

There are four important changes you should take note of:

  1. A revised workflow is being implemented such that no Form of Authorization (FOA) will be sent on behalf of the gaining Registrar.
  2. The transfer request will be immediately made to the registry once the customer successfully places the order and submits the authorization code.
  3. There will be no Change of Registrant process required for inbound transfers.
  4. This revised workflow will be deployed as soon as possible, no later than Thursday, 31st May 2018.
